Alaska Hunting

A successful Alaska hunting trip comes down to one simple thing — experience. At Arctic North Guides, we've been using our unparalleled experience to lead clients into the rugged Alaska landscape on productive Alaska hunts for 30 years. Our Alaska hunting guide's combined experience is over 70 years, and we are proud to offer Alaska hunts focusing on wild animals that can only be found in the frontier landscape of our Alaska home.

We are a true, full service Alaska hunting guide and outfitting service, and our track record in the hunting business speaks for itself. We offer big game Alaska hunts from mid-April to mid-November in two locations, the Brooks Range and the Alaska Peninsula. These diverse locales are beyond the fringes of civilization itself, rich with a diversity and quantity of wildlife.

The Brooks Range features hunting for Arctic grizzly bear, caribou, Dall sheep, and wolf. The Alaska Peninsula is world renowned for Alaska hunts focusing on moose, waterfowl, and the mightiest of northern predators, the Peninsula brown bear or "coastal bear."

Over 1,000 hunters have joined us in our Alaska home for the hunting experience of a lifetime. At Arctic North Guides we don't believe in making excuses, we believe hunting success comes with dedication and experience. With so many hunting guides in Alaska, it can be difficult to know which outfit offering Alaska hunts is right for you. Maybe a little information about what your Alaska hunting trip will encompass can help you to make a decision.

The Best Hunting Guides in Alaska

As we've said, experience is the key toward a successful Alaska hunting experience. Our Alaska hunts are led by some of the best in the business, proving there is no substitute for skill combined with local knowledge.

Alaska North Guides is owned and operated by Phil Byrd of King Salmon, Alaska — an Alaska resident with a passion for providing clients with Alaska hunts they expect. He is joined by registered Alaska hunting guides Fed and Jim Tuttle, and combined they have over 70 years of hunting and guiding experience.

Hunts for the Big Bear

While our hunting clients are diverse and seek to stalk a wide variety of wild game, there is no denying that hunting for giant coastal brown bears offers the hunt of a lifetime. We offer 10-day Alaska hunting trips for trophy brown bears in the world famous Alaska Peninsula. Our Alaska hunts for these massive predators give our customers the opportunity to take aim at brown bears that are on average between 8 ½ to 9 feet, with some giants taken each year up to 10 ½ feet! This is the experience that makes Alaska world famous and a premier destination for hunters who take the sport seriously.

From King Salmon, clients are flown out to one of our main lodges or spike camps, deep in the untamed frontier known as Alaska Peninsula brown bear country. This wild and rugged terrain is their home, but we ensure that your hunting experience is both comfortable and successful. We boast about our success rates because we can — 98 percent of our bear hunters have been successful at filling their tags over the last 30 years of hunts! We accomplish this with a combination of personalized service and the basic know-how that only comes with experience. Our featured brown bear hunts take place May 10-25 and October 1-20.
